An elderly woman was hospitalized with a compound ankle fracture after her SUV slammed into a concrete footbridge post in Teaneck early Monday afternoon.

Photo Credit: Cecilia LevineThe woman apparently lost control of the Ford on Windsor Road across from the Benjamin Franklin Middle School and it slammed into the post around 12:45 p.m., Battalion Chief Paul Kearns said.
Members of Hackensack Rescue helped Teaneck firefighters extricate the woman, who was traveling alone, Kearn said.
She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
